At school we take your child’s safety very seriously and this includes keeping them safe while using computers. We want to share with you what we are doing to keep your child safe and show you how you can support us in this.

| Children are not allowed to use other people’s log in numbers or passwords | You can set your child a password on the computer and use this to limit their access to programmes etc |
| Children are not allowed to use ‘Hotmail’ or any other e mail apart from the one set up in school. They are not allowed to contact anyone by e mail without a teacher’s permission. | Know who your child is talking to on the Internet and check on their e mails |
| Children are not allowed to go on social networking sites at school | If you allow your child to use sites like ‘My World’ or ‘Facebook’, talk to them about who they are talking to. Don’t allow them to go into private chat rooms etc. |
| Children are encouraged to tell an adult if they see anything on the computer that upsets or frightens them | Talk to your children about what they do on the computer and who they talk to. Encourage them to tell you if they see anything that worries them or they think is rudeIf your child is sent a rude or upsetting message, report it. | Children are not allowed to bring data sticks or CD Roms into school to use on the computers | Be aware that opening e mails from strangers can allow viruses on to your computer. If your child receives a message from someone they don’t know, don’t open it – delete it! |
